ST GEORGE’S DAY PARADE SERVICE
On Sunday 22nd April we were pleased to host the Plympton and Plymstock Scout Association for a St Georges Day Parade Service, which was attended by the Lord Mayor, Gary Streeter (MP) and Andrew Hill, the Plympton Stannator – together with over 200 Scouts, Cubs, Brownies, Beavers and Explorers. Scout Active Support members and many leaders were there and some celebrated their 20, 40 even 60 year service awards. Fr Robert presided over the Service and the dignitaries joined with the leaders afterwards for a buffet tea to celebrate all the work they do to develop young people in the community.
ROYAL STRAWBERRY TEA ON WEDNESDAY 15TH JUNE
This event was attended by the Stannator, John Gilding, at one of his last ‘official’ engagements, as well as by many of our parishioners. The strawberries were luscious, the cream and scones scrumptious and the conversation lively.
Thanks to those who contributed to this event by decorating the hall, attending in suitable attire, preparing the feast, and also to our Rector who found time to visit in his busy schedule before rushing off to a meeting.
Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday Celebrations:
Special services were held in both St Mary’s and St Maurice on Sunday 12th June to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday and to recognise her unstinting service to the Church, the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
The services concluded with a slice of birthday cake and a glass of fizz to raise a toast to a truly remarkable monarch and head of the Church of England.
